Shiva Vishnu Temple is a Community and Cultural organization. While the Livermore Shiva-Vishnu Temple religious events are the main attraction for many first-generation Hindus in the Bay area, Hindu Community and Cultural Center also engages in non-religious community activities such as Grant-in-Aid and Youth Education. Given the enormous diversity of Hindu traditions and practices which can be daunting for Young Adults this committee will attempt to build strong relationships via networking and Volunteering opportunities as there is no other forum to bring about our young adults in the 18-32 years’ age group to mingle within our community.
Young Adults Committee is just launched this year in April 2018 and it will depend on the interests of Young Adults by taking suggestions and slowly incorporating the action items to attract the 18-32 year age group. Initially we are planning a Social event this year in November to bring the young adults together. We will be creating social media forum to include activities like socializing, networking, Q & A, volunteer opportunities and occasional off-site trips as long term goals.
Young Adults of the Hindu community may sometimes feel ambivalent about Hinduism or religion in general, often they come to appreciate their distinct Hindu identity and even celebrate it in the course of time. The goal of this forum is to help Young Adults succeed in life, build self-confidence and contribute to society in many ways. This program will largely be run by Young Adults for their own benefit but it can leverage HCCC resource and devotee base and facilities.
Establish several sub-tracks: College mentoring, Job mentoring, Entrepreneurs Club, Travel Club
Guidance and Mentoring - One important aspect for Young Adults is the ability to discuss with senior members in the field
Older and experienced people of the community can help younger people
Hindu Community and Cultural Center devotee base includes many highly successful professionals and entrepreneurs belonging to the Hindu community. Hindu Community and Cultural Center can play an informal role linking Young Adults with professionals and entrepreneurs associated with Hindu Community and Cultural Center for mentoring opportunities.
We have a Social event coming up on November 3rd Saturday. We appreciate and encourage all the 18-32 year age group to come in large numbers to support and give your suggestions so we can plan the next event even better. We are starting our first social and would like to know what you all like to see in the future networking events. Please send your full name, email and phone number to [email protected]. We are creating a young adult’s database for future events to keep track to send evites.
